AM8 has 174 new figure studies by 55 different models. That's a lot of models! We tried to choose "practical" poses that artists could use in their work. Look forward to hearing from people what they think of the selection.

Anastasia and Rebecca were so comfortable posing together that as they moved through the studio each seemed to know what the other was thinking. They created some rich dynamic poses in their session—some from the classics, some modern, and others just casual. A customer asked us to post the Lola session as a download and here it is.
Lola did a lot of
action poses without full rotations, but she also did some more traditional poses.
Her thinness makes the bone structure more obvious than on most models.
Note: it also makes some of these poses more revealing in rotation. You can see the poses

Someone asked about the IrinaV sessions and we noticed that shoot 4 was never made
available. If you see something missing, please ask, we probably forgot. Shoot 4 is unusual.
We typically plan shoots, but in this case we let the model come up with poses spontaneously.
The result is actions not photographed in rotation.
This is an unusual session. It has a mix of standard rotations—showing 24-views per pose—and
action poses that show a motion, all done by one our most muscular models. Great for
superhero reference. You can see the poses

IrinaV came back to the studio of a new shoot. We are posting those poses for download, starting with some clothed poses. Adding costumes is something new for us. We are also adding a bit of set-dressing to achieve different colors, textures, and fabric folds for study. Please let us know if you like that new direction! The Art Models 8 Companion Disk is now available for download. It is subtitle Practical Poses, which we try to explain this way:Customers asked for more “practical” poses and described them as thoughtful or introspective; passionate and emotionally themed; portraits and close-ups; more relaxed everyday positions; and a range of body types and ethnicities, all in a modest style.Certainly people will disagree with some of the pose choices, as each person's definition of practical is going to be unique to him or her.

We strive to provide variety in the models we photograph so we jumped at the chance to work with Ayame who was born and raised in Japan. We mostly work with models who have some family history from other parts of the world, like Korea, Polynesia, Eastern Europe, or Africa (to name a few), but who grew up and live in the U.S. It was especially nice, then, to photograph a person who grew up in the nation of their heritage and has the mannerisms and customs of that country. Many of Ayame's poses were chosen by her to illustrate either modern or historical Japanese activities (such as playing a Japanese board game) and several use authentic props.
We did a mix of poses with JohnV including some dynamic poses that take advantage of his muscular figure as well as casual everyday activities and some classically inspired postures. Our intention is that some will be useful for traditional artists, others for illustrators, and yet others for other types of art like comic books or digital modeling. You can see the poses as we finish them in the Pose Tool.
